The USAID Advocacy for Better Health project is implemented with support from USAID/PATH.The project’s goal is “Improved quality, accessibility and availability of health and social services in Bugiri, Busia and Namutumba districts”. The project seeks to foster citizens’ demand and enhance civil society capacity to advocate for improved response and accountability by decision-makers and service providers.
In implementing ABH, STF has partnered with twenty two (22) Community Based Organizations: Eight (8) in Bugiri district, 8 in Namutumba and 6 in Busia). ABH initiatives contribute to 3 key result areas:
a) Citizens’ demand improved quality services
b) CSOs effectively advocate for in health issues of citizen’s concern in health and social sectors
c) Institutional capacities of CSOs strengthened
• Community engagement: Activities implemented sought to increase citizens’ awareness about their rights and responsibilities related to health and social services through visits to young people augmented by community drama.
• Media activities: Other advocacy materials produced by STF to support this initiative include 1500 thematic Advocacy Briefs, live radio / prerecorded talk shows and spots.
